We're heading back to the Halifax waterfront this summer. From July 28 to August 4, Downtown Sketcher will be operating out of one of Build Nova Scotia's modified shipping container pop-ups at Salt Yard — a week of original Canadian landmark art, right at the water's edge.
About Salt Yard
Salt Yard opened on the Halifax waterfront in 2017 and has grown into one of the most visited areas along the boardwalk, now home to over 25 small, seasonal businesses. Build Nova Scotia runs a Small Business Pop-Up Opportunity program that places local makers, crafters, and small businesses in modified shipping containers for one-week stints — a flexible platform designed to bring new and locally made offerings to everyone visiting the waterfront.
It's a well-suited fit for what we do. The waterfront draws locals and visitors alike, and the sketches we make are rooted in exactly the kind of places people come to the Halifax boardwalk to experience.
What We'll Have at the Booth
The full Downtown Sketcher collection will be on hand — art prints, greeting cards, magnets, canvas totes, coasters, and Mini Luxury Puzzles. The Halifax collection will be front and centre, including pieces that capture the waterfront itself:
- Halifax Boardwalk with The Bicycle Thief & Water Polo — print and greeting card
- Purdy's Wharf, Halifax — print
- Halifax Ferry — print and greeting card
- Halifax Waterfront Mini Luxury Puzzle — 150 pieces of the boardwalk in compact form
If you've been meaning to pick up a piece of Halifax art, this is a good week to do it in person.
