A small mark. A big milestone.
Downtown Sketcher™ is now a registered trademark — officially ours.
It's a quiet thing, a superscript symbol after a name. But what it represents is anything but small. It's the result of years of sketching city corners, waterfront scenes, historic buildings, and the everyday landmarks that give Canadian communities their character. It's the accumulation of every print shipped, every card sold at a market table, every retailer who decided our work belonged on their shelves.
The name Downtown Sketcher started as a description of what we do — sketching downtown, capturing the character of the places people live in and love. Over time it became something more: a brand, a body of work, a way of seeing. Registering the trademark is a formal recognition of that — a line drawn around something that has been built carefully and with intention.
What This Means
For the collection, nothing changes. The sketches are still hand-drawn with marker on paper, still rooted in the specific details that make each place worth capturing. The prints, cards, magnets, totes, puzzles, and coasters are still made with the same care they always have been.
What changes is the foundation. A registered trademark means the name and the work it represents are protected — that Downtown Sketcher belongs to this studio, this practice, this ongoing project of documenting Canada's built character one sketch at a time.
Thank You
From quiet corners to iconic views — thank you for being part of the journey. Every purchase, every follow, every conversation at a market booth has been part of what made this milestone possible.
Capturing the character of your favourite city corners. That's what we're here for — and now, officially, that's what Downtown Sketcher™ means.
